In this interview, I had the privilege of speaking with Professor Susan Snyder from Georgia State University (GSU) about her groundbreaking research on the long-term effects of child physical abuse and the influence of adolescent peer relationships on illegal and substance-use behaviors during emerging adulthood. We delved into the complexities of how early trauma and social dynamics shape life outcomes and discussed the importance of addressing these issues through both research and intervention. Her insights offer a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable youth and the pathways to breaking these cycles.
