In this interview, I speak with Omer Javed, a young man who joined Rising Sun Institute at an early age and has since grown into an independent, contributing member of society. Omer, who has a developmental disability, now works at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, a milestone that reflects years of growth, care, and perseverance.
His mother joined us during the conversation, helping guide and share key parts of Omer’s journey. We talked about how Rising Sun helped him develop basic life skills, build confidence, and ultimately reach a point where he could take on responsibilities in the real world. From early challenges to his current success, their story is a powerful example of what long-term support and specialized education can achieve.
One moment that really stood out to me was when Omer’s mother reflected on how far he’s come.
“From not being able to write his name or do simple tasks to holding a job at a hospital—Rising Sun made that transformation possible.”
That one sentence says so much. It’s not just about skills—it’s about dignity, independence, and hope. Omer’s journey shows us what’s possible when children with disabilities are given a chance, a structure, and people who believe in them.
